Thapelo Jameela Gilika

Thapelo Jameela Gilik is presently studying for a masters’ degree in Education Leadership & Management with Unicaf University (Zambia campus), and holds a bachelors’ degree in Performing Arts from Georgia State University, US.

Jameela is currently serving as the Principal Technical Education Officer at the Department of Teacher Training & Technical Education in the Ministry of Tertiary Education (Botswana). She is responsible for overseeing the coordination and development of several Technical & Vocational Education & Training (TVET) Programmes in the curriculum development unit of the department.

She is a former member of a number of local committees such as the Human Resource Development Council (HRDC) representing the Creative Industries Sector, and the Botswana Entertainment & Promoters Association as assistant Chairperson.

Jameela was introduced to World Spine Care (WSC) as a patient in a lot of pain. She recognized that the care she received at the clinic needed to be made available to others in Botswana. Since then she has become a Trustee of WSC-Botswana and has been participating in the Global Spine Care Initiative as a “Patient Spokesperson”.
