Margareta Nordin, Dr. Med. Sci., PT,  was a Research Professor in the Departments of Orthopaedics and Environmental Medicine, NYU Grossman School of Medicine, New York University, New York, NY, USA. She was the founder and past director of the Occupational and Industrial Orthopedic Center, Hospital for Joint Diseases, NYU Langone Medical Center, New York University.

She wrote five books and published more than 250 peer-reviewed papers, participated in seven national or international-based task forces on spine pain, and received multiple awards, among them The Volvo Award, The Woodbridge Award, The Grammer Award, and Junior Nobel Faculty Lecturer.

Dr. Nordin was the first woman to serve as President of ISSLS (1999-2000) and EUROSPINE (2016-2017), and was the founding president of World Spine Care Europe (2016-2019).

Prof. Nordin was an Adjunct Professor at the Karolinska Institute (2008-2014), the Polytechnic University of Hong Kong (2008-2010), and the Chinese University of Hong Kong 2010-2018. She was the Chair of the EUROSPINE Diploma in Interprofessional Spine Care (EDISC), the founder and past Chair of EUROSPINE Taskforce Research (TFR), a past member of the Bone and Joint Decade International Coordinating Council (ICC) (2015-2020) as the first physical therapist joining the ICC of The Global Musculoskeletal Alliance.

Dr. Nordin was co-principal investigator for the Global Spine Care Initiative and a member of the WHO Package of Rehabilitation Intervention for low back pain (2019- present). She was the Speaker of SPINE20 (2020-2024), a global advocacy group promoting access and care based on education and evidence formed around recommendations and policies to governments around the world related to the G20 organization.

The main focus of her research was the treatment and prevention of disability for work-related musculoskeletal injuries and ailments. She has a specific interest in disseminating a culturally adapted, evidence-based, low-cost, effective, and efficient rehabilitation for spine pain and spine disorders with a focus on returning individuals to work, functional ability, and/or participation in the community.
